I have a MacBook Pro 2015. I have an active WiFi signal on the screen but am unable to connect to the Internet.

Try connecting to your router or WiFi access point. Or try a different device (your iPhone?) through the same WiFi connectivity. That will tell you whether the problem is in your Mac, or simply that the WiFi device can’t see the outside world.
