Initial Mac mini setup with a wire mouse 2:

While I am waiting for my new Mac mini, I am reviewing what I will need for a successful setup and migration. I have assembled all the accessories I believe I will need. Two of the accessories are an apple wireless keyboard and an apple wireless mouse (2). I get needing to initially connect the wireless keyboard with a lightning cable to the mini but that will not work with the mouse. In fact the instructions say, a mouse can’t be wirelessly configured when a cable is plugged into it. So how does one initially setup the Mac mini with a wireless mouse without using equipment from the antique shop? Thanks

When you start up the Mini, it should look for Bluetooth input devices. It will ask you to turn on the BT devices so it can connect to them. I don't know how the keyboard with a lightning cable works. I have an older one without a cable. I think the cable is just for charging the device, but maybe it can work through the cable, too.

However, for initial pairing, the setup article says to connect it with a cable. It cannot be used as a Mouse while connected to the cable, but it will likely pair with the cable connected, then disconnect to use it as a mouse.
