Mail problem after updating to Catalina

After updating to Catalina, I an having several problems each day. Now in Mail, when drafting a new one, every now and then I get the following message:

The message “” could not be moved to the mailbox “k/mike”

The IMAP command “APPEND” (to INBOX.Drafts) failed with server error: Quota exceeded (mailbox for user is full) (0.001 + 0.000 secs)..

Can you please tell me what seems to be the issue here? Thank you.

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 10.15

We see that you're getting some issues within the Mail app on your Mac. We certainly want that to work well, and we'd be happy to help out.


We see that the error text notes there's a server error with a quote being exceeded, and it notes the mailbox is full. Have you had a chance to try clearing out any unused or unneeded emails to see if that helps? You may need to try reaching out to your email service provider to check on the allotted and used storage for your account.


After deleting emails, you may need to delete them from the Trash section on the account.
