MacOS PREVIEW: Rectangular selection and Cmd + C give me weird results (bug?)

Hi

I expected to be able to copy a part of a PDF by selecting it using the rectangular selection, then typing CMD + C to save the content of the selection and then CMD + V to insert it somewhere else.

What happens when I do this is that it seems to be cropping the page except for the selection (just like what would happen if you would crop using CMD + K) but instead of it being a simple crop, the rest of the selection is deleted as there is no way to reverse this ghost command because it doesn't actually show up in the Edit menu, there is no way to CMD + Z, it's like the command was never registered

You can see above that the graphic I tried to select and copy is now cropped out. Obviously, the redacting was done before the """""cropping""""" using CMD + C

What gives?

Also another question: How do you reverse a crop without using the CMD + Z function?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0
