Deleting an admin account on MacBook Pro - Taking forever

I am deleting an old admin account, I created a new one a while ago as needed to free up space. It's been several weeks now and it's still saying Deleting account. I can't quit preferences or shut down/restart the MacBook. Its not affecting what I can do as its just in the preferences, users & groups. But do I need to force reset the Macbook or something? Or will it eventually delete the account? I can't see if it is actually still deleting?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0

Hi MikeLPH,

It seems you're having some trouble deleting an old admin account, and shutting down your Mac. We can help.

Since the old admin account has been stuck deleting for some time, try forcing your Mac to shut down:

"You can force a shutdown if necessary—for example, if your Mac becomes unresponsive—by pressing and holding the power button until your Mac shuts down. You may lose unsaved changes in open documents."

Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac - Apple Support

Thanks, I held down the power button and restart the MacBook, all seems to be fine and the old user is now gone, I wasn’t sure if it was safe to do this while it was deleting the user, that’s why I hadn’t done it before.
