I'd suggest a MacBook Pro – same processor but the cooling fan (which the MB Air lacks) will enable better/faster processing which you'll need with Ableton. Get the 16 GB if it's in your budget, but the 8 GB would be ok if you would prefer to spend the money on more internal storage. You cannot upgrade RAM or storage later.
