iPhone xs max not waterproof

My "waterproof" iPhone xs max fell into the water and i grabbed it up within 5 seconds. Didn't think much of it as its supposed to be waterproof and then the next day the screen doesn't work. the phone is working because i still get calls but the phone screen is black no matter what i do. Did anyone have this happen before and get it figured out? I am ****** as this phone is advertised as a waterproof phone and that is not the case. tech support was no help at all and just told me to contact the sales unit of apple.

You destroyed your phone and no iPhone EVER sold has EVER been advertised as waterproof. They are and have ALWAYS been water resistant. That's a HUGE difference. If your phone is damaged by liquid, you have to either buy an Out of Warranty replacement at about 60% of the cost of the phone when new or if you paid for AppleCare+ when you bought the phone you can exercise one the replacements for a significantly reduced price.
