Forcing a cover shot in Imovie

I heard someone else had this question. This is really an answer. I did this unknowingly, but it works. Simply put the cover image over the first still, as well as in the beginning.

I'm using Ken Burns effect to create some motion but I'm stuck with black space around zoomed images (see attached image) and I'd like to fill with a blurred, zoomed in version of that image to make it look better. Can anyone help?

Very good. I tried it and it worked. The thumbnail also carried over to the photos app.
