New I phone 12 Pro Max keeps getting stuck on software update

I am trying to transition over from my 6S to my new 12 Pro Max, but it keeps getting stuck in software update. I have tried shutting it down and restarting but does not change anything... what can I do to resolve this problem?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 14

Force restart the iPhone 12 as follows:

  • Press and quickly release the volume up button
  • Press and quickly release the volume down button
  • Press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears
