Apple Mail (11.5) does not receive Exchange e-mails in High Sierra (10.13.6)

Apple Mail (11.5; 3445.9.7) in High Sierra (10.13.6 on iMac 2017) does not receive Exchange e-mails. Another High Sierra (10.13.6 on MacBook Pro 2017) with Apple Mail (11.5; 3445.9.1) works without a problem. Tried removing plists, deleting/adding Exchange again, restarts, nothing. When I click rebuild mailbox on the problematic one (3445.9.7) it receives everything, but then in a short while stops receiving anything again until rebuild is clicked again. Really frustrating. Sending e-mail is working, but receiving does not. With Connection doctor everything is fine, checks fine for new mail, i.e. no new e-mails are received.

The problem seems with the actual Apple Mail than Exchange, as my 3445.9.1 works without a problem.


Any help is more than appreciated.

I kind of managed to resolve it, albeit rather crudely. I copied the old Apple Mail (3445.9.1) into the Applications folder in the iMac that has the new version. Renamed it Mail_old.app and this now works without a problem, everything is received straight away. So, in the new version Apple have programmed something that does not quite work.
