Weird iOS 12 glitch on iPad mini 2 screen

So I turned on my iPad to and it looked like I smashed my screen somehow but I could see that the lcd underneath the digitizer was not damaged, I could still interact with my iPad perfectly. So I thought it was a software glitch and restarted and it worked as normal but the next day, the Same thing, and the day after that. Is there a reason it’s doing this, could Apple fix this in a software patch?
