Iphone 12 pro max camera green lines

Anybody here experienced thin green lines horizontally when opening back camera of an Iphone 12 Pro Max? If I try to restart, it will go away but after a day or hours, the green lines will show again.

Even if you try to capture or record the screen, it will record also the green lines.

I did HAVE the same problem and it was resolved today by performing a reset. Settings, General, Reset, Reset all Settings.

Erasing and restoring from backup is not needed, and might restore any unwanted sensor recalibration settings. I believe what happens is the camera retains calibration settings that are extreme, such as when the iPhone is laid down on a table while the camera is active, and then the camera seems to adjust an exposure calibration setting that is retained afterward. All sensors are inherently different, especially when it comes to signal noise, and must be calibrated, and it seems iPhone adjusts these calibration presets over time as the sensor ages and may be adjusting at the worst possible moment. I will wait a few days to allow normal use, then update if I can reproduce this calibration problem later.

Go to the apple store directly and they will replace the phone with a new one as they don't have the necessary tools/kit available to replace cameras, (remember to backup your device).

I went to the store yesterday to get my phone checked as I have the same issue as you (green/purple lines) on the camera preview and photos/videos taken with the Wide and telephoto lenses. After their assessment, they kept the phone for a day to replace the camera's hardware but went I came today for my mobile, they gave me a new one because they do not have the necessary tools/kit to replace the camera only.

here is the report that they raised, hope it helps:

I have the same problem and was on Chat with Apple Support.

I did some testing and it seems to be associated with Night mode.

When set to Auto or higher (1s) the viewer may show the green lines but the pictures are fine.

The selfie camera seems to be fine.

The video camera is a hit and miss. Some times it works, sometimes it records with the green lines.

The problems appears to be all back cameras.

In areas with good light, it seems fine. In low light (dark areas) the green lines are always there.

I am leaning towards a replacement.

I'm hoping it's a one-off issue for the money I've spent.

Temporary fix is to reboot but it doesn’t always work. Also it comes back over time.

My last chat with Apple support they said they are aware of the issue and working on it. I got nothing more than that.

Since no one from apple is monitoring these discussions it would say reach out to their support if you have time.

With enough people reporting it maybe Apple will acknowledge someone

Hi All,

I have a good news for you !!!

Few days back I contacted Apple support online and after the latest update of iOS the problem seems to resolve. Its now 4th day After the update and I can now see that the problem is resolved.

You can check with the Apple support online and get it checked maybe if some personalise thing has to be done they will do. What seems to me is that it is a software issue.

I’ve been experiencing the same issue, it appears to be more noticeable in night mode but I am able to trick the camera into giving me similar results. I took it to an Apple store and their answer was that the lighting I was in is not suitable for led cameras... from what I understand the specs are similar to my old 11... I’m still a strong believer that it is hardware and the true way to test this is to have a multi stage lighting as this should not be happening for what Apple advertise as their “best camera yet.”
