Does iMessage use your texts?

I need to know if it does. It doesn’t seem like iMessage wastes your texts but my family says otherwise.

iMessages (blue) sent between two or more people with Apple devices who are logged into iMessage do not use your SMS allowance. They do use cellular data if you're not on WiFi.

SMS/MMS (green) are between two or more people who are not using Apple devices (or if they are, not logged into iMessage). They will use your SMS allowance if your carrier has given you a limit. MMS messages use cellular data even if you are on WiFi.
