Compass on Apple Watch series 2

How can I get the compass app on my Apple Watch series 2? I see it in the App Store but I can not download it. When I press to download it, it says that I need an iPhone I which I have. I also checked online from macrumors that the compass app is supposed to work on the Apple Watch series 2 because it has the magnetometer. If the compass app is truly not supposed to work on the series 2, are there any other compass apps that would work on the series 2?
