Bootable usb

I have Mac OS Catalina, but when I try downloading Mac OS Big Sur, it says that I can’t download it at that time and to try again later. I was then advised to get a bootable usb and try like that, i was then unable to do that because when I clicked on macOS Big Sur, it came up with a cross in a circle. Any suggestions? Haas this happened to anyone before?

What is the exact model of your Mac? You can get this information by clicking on the Apple menu and selecting "About this Mac" or by entering your serial number here:

At the moment Apple is preventing Big Sur from installing on the 2013 & 2014 MBPros since some users have reported that the Big Sur installer has broken their laptops.
