Quicktime Choppy playback
Since upgrading to Big Sur my videos are playing back choppy. Al these worked smoothly prior to the upgrade to Big Sur. How do I fix the choppy playback?

Good afternoon toomas a,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you are having issues playing videos since upgrading to macOS Big Sur on your MacBook Pro.
Are you using QuickTime Player 10.5?
Are these videos you created yourself? Are they on the internal or external drive?
What is the file size and codec used? (Right click on the video file and choose "Get Info").
Does the same video play in iMovie or Final Cut Pro X without issue?
If you have not done so already, please quit the QuickTime application and restart your Mac after upgrading it.
Open and play a file in QuickTime Player on Mac - QuickTime Player User Guide
Please provide the additional information requested about your issue and we'll do our best to help!
Take care.
The Quicktime Player is 10.5 1086.4.2
All the videos are mine in MPEG4
Storage is on an external drive
In iMovie the video does not play only shows a still but the audio track works I do not use Final Cut Pro X
The file sizes are 0.5 GB to 4 GB
The videos worked well with no problems before I did the upgrade to Big Sur
Hi Toomas a,
