Amps requirement for 27” iMAC 2020

I bought a new 27” imac 2020. It provides power cable with 16A plug endpoint. And I could not find any UPS which will give 16A output. Is it safe to use a 6A to 16A converter plug, as I already bought an UPS? Please advice

UPS for iMac 27" with 16A power cord Hello, My iMac 27" has 16A power cord (Indian style) which won't fit into most conventional UPS devices that have only 6A socket. Is it safe to use a power plug converter from 16A to 6A on an UPS for this device? Also, please suggest an UPS with relevant power ratings and VA capacity that works good with this device.

iMac 27 inch (2020) 16Amp power cord Hello, I purchased a 27 inch iMac recently and was quite annoyed when I saw that they gave me a 16A power cord. No one seems to have a clear response to my query regarding the power cord. I currently do not have access to a 16Amp power outlet. These exist only in the kitchen and in the bathrooms to run heavy duty appliances like refrigerators and geysers etc. The electrician told me that I can draw a 16A power line from the kitchen and install a 16A power socket. Apple executives tell me that I can just use a 16A to 6A converter (which I am currently doing), but I'm not sure if this is the safest way. I don't understand why they've issued a 16A cord. Is it because the computer draws a lot more power? So do I get a 16A socket installed? Or would I be ok with just using a 16A-6A converter? Can someone please tell me the right way of going about this? Any help or info will be appreciated :) Thanks.

Thanks Malcolm. Even the other end of the wire is showing 10amps. So ultimately 10A goes into iMac. My converter is running fine with UPS and iMac. Even I have checked with electrician, they told for PC use no need to worry about the converter.

The power cable may be able to handle 16 amps, but the computer doesn't use nearly as much.

iMac power consumption and thermal output - Apple Support

Maximum power required is less than 300 watts, so 3 Amps is enough at 120 Volts. even less if you use 240 Volts.
