Fix for incorrect flagged email count in Catalina 10.15.7

If you have no flagged emails in Apple Mail but the flagged folder still shows a count of 1:

Try disabling and then re-enabling the mail account.

Mail > Preferences > Accounts

Under Account Information, uncheck and then recheck the 'Enable this account' box.

Flagging and unflagging all mailboxes, restarting in safe mode, checking the webmail for flagged items, rebuilding the mailboxes -- none of those worked for me.

Just disable and re-enable the mail account. Try that first before any of the harder things!

This doesn't work for me. Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 Rebooted in safe mode, did rebuild on all the mailboxes, and the spurious flagged count of 1 is still showing up. Previously, I flagged and unflagged every email in all my folders. Getting kind of ridiculous.

Catalina unable to clear flag in Mail. My mail inbox shows one flagged item. When I select flagged there isn't a email in that folder. I checked all items in my in box and there are no flagged messages. There are solutions for this problem posted in the communities but the solution doesn't work in Catalina.

Flags in Mail I have a 2020 MacBook Air running macOS Monterey 12.5, on which I use the Mail app. I have recently archived some messages to "On My Mac" folders from a webmail based service that I accessed via the Mail app. Some of these messages were flagged. I have deleted all the flags from all the messages in all my email accounts, but the Mail app still shows 2 flagged messages in the "Flagged" folder at the top. When I open this folder, it is empty. I have tried Mailbox > Rebuild. There are no flagged emails on the webmail system. I have no idea how to get rid of this "2" notification next to the Flagged folder. Can anyone help?
