Gmail not showing up in mail macOS Ventura

My Gmail account is not showing up in Mail. The account shows up in the list of internet accounts and calendar dates are synchronized in Ical, but next to the email setting the status button it only shows "checking."

This is not an issue on my other devices that are still running on Catalina.

I finally got it to work. In case you run into the same problem: I exported my TLS certificate that I had in Keychain/login on one of my other Macs and then imported that certificate into Keychain on my new one, setting it to always trust in all categories. In Mail account settings /server settings/ edit smpt/ advanced, I could choose that certificate now and uncheck insecure authentication. It took a few minutes for the account to finally become active.

Did you try this suggestion?

Same issue. I solved it. In my case there was an old login for the Google Account in KeyChain from before the email became a Google Workspace account. I deleted the Keychain item and then added the account again. It did the launch orphan browser window login window modal thing, I logged in and the account then appeared.

Sorry, it didn’t solve the issue After a lot of googling for 3rd party apps working with Gmail I found a document that said you had to have 2 step authentication turned on first. When I did that it generated a lengthy password to use. Going back into settings on Safari, I went to internet accounts and selected add which brought up the list of choices. My Gmail address was at the top of the list. I tried with that and also selecting Google but both of these went into a blank window with the spinning wheel and the authentication failed again.

I then tried adding it by selecting other. That’s when I got the screen where I could add the one time password and confirm that the incoming mail and outgoing server were configured correctly. It finally loaded my gmail with my other mail accounts. It wasn’t difficult to do but it took forever to find any helpful documentation to point me in the right direction. Thanks for the earlier suggestions!

My problem isn’t that it isn’t showing up. I’m trying to add my gmail to my Mac Mail accounts and keep getting authentication failed. I had the hard drive replaced in December and realized I had not added my gmail account back on. This has been going on for several days. Have also reinstalled Ventura OS 13.2

Senior advisor feels it is on Googles end after all of the things we have tried. Maybe something in their security settings I need to address but don’t know where or how to look if that is even the problem.
