How much Flash Storage do I need?

I have a 2013 MacBook Pro w/1TB of Flash Storage, I've have 902.74GB left. I am buying a 2020 M1 13" MacBook Pro and thinking I do not need 1TB, rather 512GB. Thoughts?

Sounds like 512 GB would be sufficient unless you foresee your needs changing. Keep in mind that unlike your 2013 MBP, on newer models (from 2016 to now) you cannot upgrade the storage later because the SSDs are soldered to the logic board. So get what you will need when you buy the computer (same for memory/RAM).

Thank you, I think that is the direction I am going to go. I do not see my needs changing.

Rulle of thumb would be to step up to the next largest storage, however with 902.74 GB free storage you have barely used ~100GB.

Seems an easy decision to go with 500 GB.

Keep in mind new machine both Stoarage and RAM are soldered to the board, meaning you can not up grade after purchase.
