Mac Mini portrait 1080p monitor cannot set native resolution?

I've got a Dell 24 inch secondary monitor in portrait rotation. If I set my rotation to be landscape, it detects and shows the proper resolution. When I rotate it 90 or 270 degrees to a portrait position I get some crazy low definition setting automatically. When I try to scale it, none of the available selections are 16:9 type resolutions. And of course none of them are the native resolution. It is detecting it as the right Dell monitor.

It's so weird. I can have it landscape right side up or upside down and the resolution is perfect. Portrait, it's a hot mess. This is on a brand new Mac mini M1.

Has anyone seen this or had experience? Got a fix?

Is there any followup information about this issue? I just got my Mac mini m1 and it works fine with 2 displays in landscape, however when I try and make my 2nd monitor landscape, it defaults to the lowest resolution (576x1024) and the native resolution for the monitor isn't available under 'scaled' category.

EDIT: The native 1080 resolution becomes available when holding 'option' and clicking 'scaled' under display settings.
