Iphone SE with a five digit passcode. Need old four digit passcode to work to access data on old Iphone SE

My wife unfortunately dropped her iphone se down the toilet. As you do. Obviously phone damaged and purchased new one to replace it. The new iphone SE has a 5 digit passcode. There are photos on the old phone we want to find and download but I cannot access the phone because her new passcode is 5 digits and will not accept the old 4 digit passcode which is correct. Tried to ask Apple but this isn't listed in their suggestions so anybody out there know what we could do. Surely by connecting the old phone via the USB cable there must be a way of getting the old data off her phone. Unfortunately her phone was linked to my apple id and her new phone is linked to her apple id.

Look forward to any suggestions.

Thanks

iPhone SE

If the old phone will not turn on, there is no way to get the data off the old phone. As far as the new iPhone is concerned, if it is asking for a passcode, it would be either a 6-digit or 4-digit, there is no 5. And, if you just activated the new phone, it would have prompted you to create a passcode, it does not create one on its own. If you restored the new phone from a backup of the old phone, then it would be the same 4-digit passcode you had on the old device. It almost sounds as if you have the screen zoomed in. You say the iPhone is setup with her Apple ID. Who did this setup? If you cannot remember the passcode that was setup on the new phone, you will have to restore the phone. See the instructions here. But if the old phone will not turn on, the only way to get anything from that old phone would be to use the last backup of the old phone.
