Can't change highlight colours in PDF (Preview) after using Continuity Markup on Ipad

I am using different highlighting colours when working with PDF documents in Preview on my Mac. However i've encountered an issue after using the "Continuity Markup" feature on my Ipad (I use the Apple pencil to write comments) I can then not change highlight colours in my PDF document opened in Preview on my Mac. It does give me the option to continue with the highlight only using the same colour i used before using the "Continuity markup". The entire menu of colours, underline, strikethrough options cannot be selected.
