How much does a screen replacement cost?

Hi I have a MacBook Pro 13" 2019 A1989, out of warranty.

I set it down on my desk and I do not know what happened, but the bottom and a vertical part of the screen has become distorted. I need a screen replacement, but no Apple stores in my area are taking appointments due to Covid.

Has anyone had their screen replaced recently? How much did it cost you? I just want to know an estimate so I can budget. Apple Support will not tell me and I do not want to send my laptop in without knowing about how much it will be.

Thank you so much for your help during this stressful time!

Do you have any local Apple Authorized Service Providers you can contact to get an estimate?

I believe it will likely cost about $615 US as long as Apple doesn't see any signs of accidental damage (I just sent in a 2018 model for a standard out-of-warranty repair and that was my cost). If there is accidental damage, then it will cost a lot more plus you may forfeit the labor & shipping fees (about $120 US) if you decline the repair if it is re-quoted for accidental damage.

Thank you for your reply!

Is yours a 13" as well?

My MBP has no damage or dents, there's no physical damage - it's just the screen distortion. I can still use the computer, I just cannot see the bottom of a bit of the right side of the screen. Hopefully that will keep costs down. Repairs are so expensive!

Unless they are artifacts due to your camera and not on the display, the colored lines at the bottom and the right concern me far more than the crack.

The cost issue here is that the upper case/display are one sealed unit unlike pre-Retina MacBook Pros. If any part has to be replaced the entire upper case/display must be replaced. Thus the mind-blowing costs to service.

Given the high cost, I would be inclined to try living with the crack until it few big enough to interfere with normal use.
