Buying iPhone 12 Pro Max from Japan

A friend of mine will get me the 12 pro max from Japan. He'll order it from apple.com/jp and pick it up from Shibuya store in Tokyo. I have 2 questions. First, will it be unlocked? Can I use in in Europe/UAE? Second question is, is the voltage different in Japan? Will I need a converter?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There is no voltage issue, it doesn’t come with a power adapter so you buy one for whatever area you are in with the correct plugs. There is no international warranty for an iPhone. If your friend is willing to let you send the phone for taking it in for service at the Apple Store you can get it fixed/replaced in that manner but the shipping is going to be costly due to the battery in it. I would get a cost estimate of what the shipping cost will be to and from your friend for the phone. If it is more than the price difference buy it where you live.
