USB A/B cable adaptor for iMAC

Is there an adaptor I can use on my iMac for a USB A/B cable that is required for the scanner on my Epson printer?

I don't think there is such a thing as a USB A/B port. USB A is a connector type and so is USB B. If you can plug in both ends of the cable to the respective devices USB A to iMac and USB B to your scanner then you good to go connection wise. With the scanner connected and turned on go to the apple menu and select about this mac. Next click on the System report button. In the hardware section find USB (at the bottom of hardware). Click on USB and it will show you what is connected to your USB ports. Do you see your Epson scanner? If so there is nothing wrong with the cable you purchased.

What you probably need is a scanner driver or updated scanner software from Epson. There is a 3rd Party application called Vuescan that works on lots of scanners. There is a trial version that will put a watermark on all scans until you purchase the software. Try it out and if you can get your scanner to work buy it.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Paul. I've checked the System report portion on USB connections. It does show my Epson printer which has the scanner capabilities built in. I'm guessing you are correct that I need updated scanner driver. I've contacted Epson and hope they get back to me. I had another issue with the printer and talked with two different people but neither got back to me two weeks ago. Bad customer service on their part. Definitely not like Apple's great support.

Stay safe and healthy.

I bought the AB cable but now found out that the USB ports on my iMac are all regular ports and this requires a USB A/B port on the computer for it to connect properly. Apple has no adaptor I can use. I've gotten no response from Epson so I might have to upgrade to a different printer if I can still return this Epson.
