Charging issues

My iphone 11 easily gets hot just by plugging in for a couple of minutes. I'm using a 20w usb-c adapter. Is the problem with the phone or the charger?

Hello,

1) Check the charging port for lint or other debris

2) See this: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t charge

3) Also see: Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures
