iPhone is silent when locked

I’ve looked across lots of help forums but for some reason I can’t get a fix.

example - last night I’m watching tv and phone has locked out beside me. I unlock phone to find 4 texts - none of which alerted via sound vibration or alert.

ive tied all things around Bluetooth off silence slider off, I can’t work it out - as I don’t have dnd activated- but the tick of silence when locked is still showing, but won’t change.

really need a fix as it’s so frustrating

Hello,

Well if you've already checked the mute button and DND, try this:

1) Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages. It is turned on?

2) Go to Settings > Sound & Haptics. Change the "Text Tone" to a different sound. Does it make a sound?

Note: you can send text messages to yourself for testing purposes.
