Facetime camera not working on MacBook Pro M1

Hi,

I received the MacbookPro M1 a few hours ago and set it up as a new device. So no bad settings stuff etc. BUT the facetime camera simply won't start. In quicktime (trying to do a simple camera recording) it just shows a warning sign - the camera is available for selection but stays dark - the green light won't come on. SMC deleting is not a thing on the M1 - so what could that be? DOA cam is hopefully not the case here. Thanks for advice.

Does it work in Photo Booth, so that you can see yourself?

if not, it is likely defective, and you should return it or contact support.

If it does work in photo booth, remember that apps need to be individually authorized to use the camera.
