No military discount on Apple Care when purchased after the fact from computer purchase?

I purchased an iMac, and then a few days later while logged in to the military purchase page, went to purchase apple care plus. I was told that I can't apply the military discount to an apple care + purchase online, unless it is done when I purchase my computer. So has apple been overcharging all veterans/active duty members who purchase apple care plus online at a later date ? If true, this makes no sense.

iMac 27″, macOS 11.0

There are three ways to deal with this issue. Apple Retail has one set of rules, Apple Care has another set of rules. The third rule is complaining to Apple Corporate. Apple Care (same as Apple Support) has strict rules and you’ll get to a point, like the Senior Support Advisior, and the rule is the rule. I suspect can of like the US Military.

Apple Retail has more flexibility. They may be able to offer a discount on an accessory etc. and in doing so help solve the issue and keep you happy Surprise & Delight).

The third option is Apple Corporate. Send a letter addressed to Tim Cook. Calmly and politely explain your disappointment and why you feel upset. Give several examples of how you’d like the situation/issue resolved fairly. Do not ever threaten to involve an attorney or the discussion is over.

Please be patient and you’ll get a reply.

I hope this helps.

Yeah it's a real shame we're getting discriminated against like this. They offer a military/veteran discount and then make it impossible to purchase. I got liked to by two separate Apple employees just a few minutes ago before my call was escalated to a Senior Advisor that basically told me to pound sand.

$2 Trillion company with customer service worse than any business I've dealt with before. They can easily issue a credit for the difference, or... crazy thought here.... just honor the price that's clearly advertised.

To All:

Provide Apple Feedback on this:

Do your Part: Being there is no direct feedback for AppleCare, leave feedback to Apple on this in the category of "Apple ID". Let then know what you think the options should be for discounts. Apple won't get back to you directly on this. But the more feedback they receive on this, the more likely Apple will look into this, and consider it in time to come.

He should do exactly as he did, because it lets other people know the shady dealing that happened with him, myself, and millions of other veterans that use apple products. You're not an employee so don't be an apologist for a $2 Trillion company... All me and OP want is to purchase the Applecare+ plan that is advertised. There is no asterisk, there is no superscript indicating we need to read more. Nothing.

That in order to buy Applecare with military discount you have to buy another product at the same time... Here's a caveat though, if you're buying an iPhone, it has to be a sim-free one. They also said "there's no way anyone can authorize the purchase" really?!

the first person I talked to on chat said that I'd definitely be able to purchase it over the phone with Apple Support, nope. Talked to Apple Support and the first person I talked to said she would transfer me directly to an Applecare rep, where I would definitely be able to buy that with military discount. Nope. Last person I talked to was a Senior Advisor and while he was nice, he was basically telling me to kick bricks, and that he was the last person that would listen, that there was no one else for me to talk to... A $2 Trillion technology company, and they can't authorize overrides or work with a customer? Even a high schooler at McDonald's knows how to do that. And regardless of any trite stuff someone else might want to say to me, I just wanted to spend my money on a product that was advertised to me. There were NO asterisks, nor superscripts, nor fine print anywhere on the page. I looked and looked and looked, there's nothing. It's a complete bait-and-switch, because you can certainly buy the full price Applecare AFTER you purchase any new iphone from anywhere else....
