Can't move files by click and drag

Maybe you need to check the options in Preferences>Trackpad for drag ‘n drop

Moving a file by dragging I seem to remember that I used to be able to drag a file (click, hold, drag) to a folder and the folder would open up. Or move a file on to folder in the side bar and a window associated with that folder would pop open. Has that handy moving technique been removed from the system? Of have I set something incorrectly?

Copying/moving files from download folder Hi. Lately, whenever I try moving or copying a file or folder from the download folder, it "changes" into another file in the destination folder. Always the same picture. For instance, if i drag a folder with dokument to desktop, the picture (which is one of my own) appears. Any clues? Thanks!

On the same drive, click, hold for an instant, then drag, all in a fluid motion.

I'm using a desktop machine with a mouse. But thanks--checking settings is a good idea in any case.
