Sending reverb output to audio interface outputs

Is there a simple way to output the Chromaverb plugin by itself -- just the reverb part without any recorded audio -- from an aux channel to an analog mixer? I'm hoping to use mixer faders to adjust reverb, without having to do this in Logic. Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Honestly , I don't understand what you are trying to do. What do you mean with "output just the reverb part without any recorded audio"?

If you say you want to "use mixer faders to adjust reverb" do you mean the signal to the reverb or the output of the reverb?

Even if you send the reverb output to the mixer via your audio interface, you have to bring the output of the reverb back into Logic if you want to bounce your mix (unless this is for a live setup.

Another part of clarification: You cannot route an Aux Send directly to an Output Channel of you audio interface, only to Internal Busses in Logic. So there is no point to adjust the signal going into the Chroma Verb on an external mixer.

Here is a possible routing configuration:

    • Use a specific Aux Bus ("to Reverb") via the Aux Sends on the individual Audio Track to send portion of their signal to that Aux Bus ("to Reverb").
    • Create an Aux Channel Strip ("Reverb Return") with that Aux Bus ("to Reverb") as its input
    • Add the Chroma Verb to its Audio FX Insert.
    • Leave the Volume Fader of the Reverb Return Channel Strip at 0dB or any other fixed level.
    • Route the output of that "Reverb Return" to a its own Output Channel (i.e. output channel 3/4) on your Audio Interface
    • Connect output channel 3/4 of you Audio Interface to your Mixer Input
    • What you do next with reverb signal on the mixer depends on the purpose of your configuration
    • One thing to make sure is to the output of the Chroma Verb to 100% Wet and 0%Dry so you ge only the "reverb'ed" signal.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for your quick reply! Would it be possible to provide additional detail? Sorry, if I've misunderstood, but here's what I've done so far:

Audio Interface: Scarlett 18i8

  1. Logic: Mono Aux Send channel output set to 18i8 output 3
  2. 18i8 output 3, patch cable connected to 18i8 input 4
  3. 18i8 input 4 channel, connected by patch cable to 18i8 output 4
  4. 18i8 output 4 connected to mixer with patch cable into left input of first stereo channel

Here's a screen shot of the mixer view in Logic:

Screenshot of ChromaVerb tab showing Output EQ button on.

Thanks in advance for continuing to help!

Thanks, Edgar, for your response. It's for a live stream over Cleanfeed. Essentially, I'm trying to create an external FX loop. But, I don't have a reverb unit, or something similar, and thought it might be possible for Logic to do this part of things. Here's a link to a video, a little before the 3'40" mark that shows what I'm trying to do: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SiXSSL--solid-state-logic-six-desktop-mixer. The link may not go to the video, but it's the one at the bottom right in the videos section about the mixer "SSL SiX - Recording an FX loop using guitar pedals." Thanks for taking the time to write out detailed instructions.

I tried the routing, as you suggested, over the weekend and this works very well. Many thanks! I had mistakenly thought that sending a wet signal meant that the attached audio would not pass through with it, and that I could blend reverb and audio independently, almost like adding a new color. Are there any reverb plugins that you are aware of that can be applied this way, like a static after-effect? (Not sure what to call this and hopefully this makes sense!)
