Where is software update?
I cannot update my macbook air. There is not a "software update" button in my system preferences. My system is running on OS X and has not been updated in a long time.

Two Important Streps to Upgrading: Back Up, then Upgrade
A. Important: Back Up First:
Always be certain you backup prior to Installation, create a Time Machine Backup, that way, you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the upgrade. Use an external hard drive that is at least 1.5 the total storage capacity as that of your internal hard drive.
B. Perform the Upgrade:
