exclamation point on photos

Hi,

I have photos from early this year (January) and they have an exclamation point on them and it will not restore to full quality. I upgraded that iPhone 7 to the iPhone 12 pro and all of my photos did not transfer because of this. I have already "kept originals" in the settings and nothing happened. I updated my iPhone 7 and nothing changed. I also imported photos on my iMac and same. I don't know what else to do. I want my pictures to download in full quality. They are also not showing up on my iCloud. I even upgraded my iCloud to 200 GB of storage (on my iPhone 12 pro it says I need to upgrade to 2TB for my photos --- but that does not make sense because I am only using 19 GB of iCloud storage). I'm losing over 4,000 photos I took studying abroad for the first time. Please help.

It is strange, that your photos are not in iCloud, if you have been using iCloud Photos on your old iPhone, unless you did not have enough iCloud storage and the missing photos never did upload to iCloud.

Do you still have the iPhone 7? And are the photos still on the iPhone 7? Then try, if you can save the photos on the iPhone 7 to a computer or Air Drop or mail one of the missing photos to the new iPhone 12 to check, if the new iPhone can read them at all.

Do you have a backup of your iPhone 7 on a computer that includes the photos? An iCloud backup of the iPhone does not include your photos, if you have been using iCloud Photos.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I still have the iPhone 7 but the pictures won’t fully load. I ran out of iCloud storage in the beginning of the year so those photos won’t show up on iCloud. I still have the photos on my iPhone 7 —they just won’t load. Also I cannot send to my iMac or anything else—my iPhone 7 won’t let me because the image won’t load. They’re on my phone but it just won’t load. I have about 20 GB of storage on my iPhone 7 out of 32 GB. My photos take up about 8 GB and I have 200 GB of iCloud so idk what’s going on :(
