The wording in the Consolidate Media section is confusing

These two statements seem to conflict:

If you’re moving a library to work on a project on another Mac, you might want to consolidate source media files and Motion content in the library you’re moving. Consolidate media after you've moved the library.

How could you consolidate the media after you've moved the library? Am I missing something?

It depends on where the media is stored. Many users, especially those collaborating with others, store media outside the library. For them it's better to copy the library first, because it's a much smaller bundle, and then consolidate to bring the media into whatever new storage location is being used, either as external media or as managed media inside the library. You can consolidate to a separation location on another drive, and then copy the library. You might have to relink as the file path is different. It should relink automatically, but it may not.

Suppose you have your library in the internal drive of your iMac, for example, and want to take it on an external SSD to work on the road on another mac (say, a MBP). Your media may reside in lots of places outside the library.

Copy the library to the external SSD. When the SSD is attached to your MBP, media will be offline.

So, before you move the SSD away, use consolidate to copy everything to the library (or another location in that SSD).

Makes sense?
