I recently updated my MacBook Pro from High Sierra to Catalina. Now some very important programs are not functional, and in order to up date them the software developer wants $540. Can’t spend that, so I want to get rid of Catalina and go back to High Sierra, where everything works. That’s what I mean.

Yes I have a TimeMachine Backup
That should get you back to where you want then.
What do I do? Plug my external hard drive into my MacBook, and boot up the Time machine on the external? I have no idea how to proceed. Can you help with that? Thank you.
