how do I change a video clip into a photo (for printing purposes)?

Probably the easiest way to take a still shot of a video frame is to scroll to the frame in iMovie and then share it out as an "Image" to your desktop (an option from the share menu).



There are lots of other ways to do it as well. You can take a screen shot of the preview screen. You can put the video into the Photos app, open it there, and click on the little gear icon in the control box to send a still image of a chosen frame to the Pictures folder. You can open it in the free download VLC and do Video/Snapshot of a chosen frame, and it will appear in the Pictures folder of your Mac.
