My globe button doesn't change input source

Thanks, I submitted a bug report to them.

I was able to resolve it by activating both shortcuts _and_ using them to switch input source, then while still having them turned on using the "Globe" button started to work again and I could switch off those standard shortcuts again. It's pretty annoying still but would do it for now until it's fixed. Thanks for your help!

this happened to me too since I got my MacBook Pro

what you have to do is:

1- go to keyboard in system preferences

2- choose shortcuts

3- you'll see input sources and when you click on it it will show 2 things

4- I removed them and it worked for me instantly

In the meantime, you might want stay with the traditional Control Space keyboard changing shortcut, which should always work. This is what all Mac's used for many years before October 2020 when MacOS Big Sur added the Fn/Globe key feature, which clearly is not quite ready for prime time.

I experienced the same bug for a couple of times now. But I also just discovered that you don't need to reboot to "reset the bug". Simply enable "Select the previous input source" (default to control+space), activate it, and then disable it. The activation from control+space somehow resets the bug for me.

If your "Select the previous input source" (control+space) is not activate. You can go to:

System preferences > Keyboard > Shortcut > Input Source > Tick the one you prefer

*Tip: Close the "System Preferences" window after ticking the box. Some experienced this as the final required step.

I purhcased M1 Macbook air with top specs a few months ago, and everything is so nice and smooth and I am loving it every single moment except that I am having this exact same issue as well. I constantly writing in multiple languanges and after all these months of usages, I can confirm that this bug happens randomly in different apps and especally more freqeuntly when using Chrome. It's quite annoying and it does slow down the busy workflow as we all have to constanly back and forth fixing this issue in order to continue our work. Currently, we have about 5 new M1 macbook air in our work team and it happnes to every single one of the macbooks........

Are you able to turn on the long time standard shortcut, Control Space, in system preferences > keyboard > shortcuts?

I have exactly the same issue and it's very annoying especially because the workaround doesn't work for me so the only way to resolve it is to restart the machine. This seems like a major bug and a lot of people are complaining, how come no Apple representative is able to comment on this?

I have the same problem as well, for me restarting the computer somehow gets it back. But it's too annoying to restart it every time, so I just gave up on it, hope apple can fix it ASAP

I also experienced the same issue, it's very annoying, i think it's Big Sur bug, hopefully it gets fixed in the next update or even sooner.

Unfortunately this work-around doesn't appear to work anymore, and I'm now wondering whether the intention is to disable using the globe-fn key to switch between inputs.
