I turn my red side button off to turn off phone, yet the iphone 6 rings when some telemarketers phone. They don't leave a voicemail message so other comments do not address this rather new phenomenon for me. How does it happen and how do I prevent this ringing?
If your phone is powered off, it cannot receive calls. I don't know what you mean by a "red side button". There are no red buttons on the iPhone. How you turn the phone off depends on the model you have:

Okay. That's the mute switch. It doesn't turn off the phone or put it in Airplane mode.
Scammers use lots of ways to get around blocking them. There are limits to what you can do. You may want to go to Settings>Phone>Silence Unknown Callers.
iPhone 6. The rectangle toggle switch on left side edge of phone to turn off ringing etc sounds while on airplane. It is off and I don’t here most incoming sounds except for occasional marketing phone calls which use my ringtone which is the old fashioned telephone ring. Is anyone else experiebcing this?
