Just got the iPhone 12 and there's no power adapter

Hi. Just got the iPhone 12 and was confused when I went to charge my phone there is no power adapter and the charging cord I got does to work in my current usb. I was just informed that apple removed this adapter because it’s “often unused” this is the key part to charging a phone. Now I won’t be able to charge my device because it’s a completely different usb

A number of folks tend to agree that Apple's decision to not include the proper charging equipment is not at all desirable. However, Apple did provide the fact they will not be shipping them, in the "fine" details when you order from their online store.

Regardless, your new iPhone 12 comes with the same Lightning port as the previous models. However, the included charging cable, as you notices, had a Lightning connector on one end and a USB-C connector on the other. The issue is that you will need a Lightning charging cable that has the older USB-A connector on the other end.

As such you have three choices:

  1. If you have an older USB--type power adapter, you will need to get a Lightning-to-USB-A charging cable, or
  2. Use the provided cable and get a newer USB-C power adapter.
