Can't update IOS via itunes

Hi Guys, i unable to update my 12 pro max via itunes. During flashing the IOS 14.3, message error was popup "Could not be updated. An unknown error occurred(4000)''. 2 times and same error message was popup on my pc windows.. Hope can explain to me and i new apple user...Thanks

Hi TT2, issue was solved after tried to waiting for couple of hour and re download the IOS and updated via phone. Its maybe bcs the passcode on my phone. Apple also should be resolve this. Thanks for support.

  • Locked Device: It is possible that the device that you are trying to update locked with a passcode while the installation process for the software started. iPhone needs to be unlocked in order to be updated by iTunes, if it isn’t locked, this error might be triggered.


I've seen other users posting that they needed to remove their device password. It may help to simply keep your device awake and unlocked during download and the start of the installation. Perhaps set a longer auto-lock timer.
