Hello, I just purchased a 13” MacBook Air and downloaded all data from my old MacBook Pro. Now I am unable to get past the log in page as I cannot type my password, it prompts me to enter my password but will not allow any digits or letters to be typed. Thank you any help

Thank you for this, afternm96 hours of refusing to accept my log in attempts my new MacBook Air suddenly decided to co-operate and allowed me to enter my password. I do not understand why the change in attitude, can you explain to me perhaps? Hopefully not a flaw that shows up again

Let's try starting up your Mac in safe mode which will prevent certain software from loading during start up. If you're able to log in, restart your Mac and log in as you normally would.
