USB C Split / Extension

I have a MB 12" from 2015 that has a single USB C port. That port is being occupied to plug in an external monitor. How can I add a webcam? Since the port is taken, is there a splitter or anything? If so, would it be problematic that one device was output (to the monitor) and was was input (the webcam)?

Lightning to USB a Port adaptor I have installed my OS t an external drive (WD 1T drive). In order to make it faster, I think that I should use the Lightning port on the back of the monitor. To do that I am looking for a Lightning to USB 3.0 or higher port adaptor. The only one I have found today is the Apple Lightning to USB camera adaptor. My first question is: Will the Apple adaptor function as a normal USB Port with the same or better speeds of a 3.1 USB port? The second is what is the speed capability of the USB ports on the back of my MAC monitor?

Can I plug HDMI video input device (camera) into MacBook Air (M1, 2020)? I want to plug an HDMI video camera into my MacBook Air (M1, 2020) USB C port, but I can’t seem to find a device that will allow that. Thanks for any clues.

As Lanny has already mentioned, you would need a USB-C dock. Here's an example from OWC:
