I am trying to recover my deleted text messages

If you had messages in iCloud turned on Keep all your messages in iCloud - Apple Support and those messages were deleted, then they are permanently gone. If that feature wasn't turned on, you can restore from a backup -- Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support.

If your are using iCloud to sync your messages, you deleted messages are gone forever. If not, you can recover them if you have a backup of your phone but note that restoring from a backup will wipe the data in other applications that was created after the backup.
