apple first generation watch and apple fitness +

I see that you need a series 3 or above to use Apple Fitness +. My question is, will a first generation watch still sync basic metrics to apple fitness +? I have seen screenshots of video playing on apple watch and assume that is why a series 3 is needed. But I have a first generation watch still (amazing I know) and was hoping it can simply share my heart rate data with Fitness +.

Hey there ntgroves,

We understand you're wanting to know if you can use an Apple Watch (1st generation) with Fitness+. We'll help clarify.

As you saw, it would require an Apple Watch Series 3 or later to use the service in any capacity. You can view the full list of supported devices, here: Devices you can use with Apple Fitness+

Cheers!
