Hi Timl8800,

We understand you have questions about recovering messages and a blocked contact. We're happy to help.

If you're talking about recovering messages from someone while they were blocked, that is not possible. So say for example you have a message thread with someone and you added them to your blocked contacts list, and now you've unblocked them and want to see messages they sent while they were blocked. If this is the situation you're talking about, it's not possible to recover the messages they sent while they were blocked since they would've never been received by your device. You'd be able to view the message thread you had before you blocked them, and after you removed them from the blocked contacts, but messages sent during the time they were blocked would not be viewable or recoverable.

If you're just talking about recovering deleted messages in general, it is possible to do that if you have a back up available that was done at a time/day the messages were still on the device. You can use these steps to check for available backups: Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If you do have a back up available that was done when the messages were still on the device, you can restore it to bring those messages back. Keep in mind when you restore a back up, it will remove anything that was added to the device since that time. So for example, say you have a back up that was done on a Monday, and then on a Wednesday you decide to restore it. Anything you added, downloaded, changed, etc. on the device from the time of that back up on Monday until Wednesday would be deleted when you restore the back up.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

We hope this helps. Take care!
