In Photos iOS the photos are only stored once in the library and all albums are using this one copy. Album do not store copies of the photos. When you add a photo to an album, it just adds a reference to the one copy of the photo.
The Recents album and the other predefined albums in Photos are special. They are populated automatically with photos from your library, based on all photos in your library, according to rules for this album. The Recents album is always holding all recent photos by definition. When you remove a photo from Recents or All Photos, or Panoramic, etc, it has to be deleted from the library completely, and thus will vanish from all albums.
