How can I remove the Carrier Lock from the SIM card on a Verizon iPhone X?

The carrier lock is not on the SIM card, it is recorded in Apple’s activation server. You need to contact Verizon and ask them to remove the carrier lock. See ➡️ How to unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier - Apple Support
You might first check to see if it IS SIM locked; Verizon generally does not lock phones unless a phone is financed through Verizon.
Go to Settings/General/About and see what it says for Carrier Lock.

We will contact the carrier again to ask them to remove the Carrier Lock. Yes it shows this lock.
we have spent hours on the phone and in person with Verizon, the new carrier and Apple with no success. Could there be a defect in this phone? It was a replacement for a broken phone insured by Asurion. Thank you for your reply
Only Verizon can unlock it, unfortunately.
