My youtube app from iMovie disappeared and I can’t upload to youtube

All of a sudden my YouTube app from my iMovie is just gone! I use this method to upload movies to YouTube all the time and now the app inside iMovie is gone. What can I do?

This feature was also removed from Final Cut Pro as well. Just export your iMovie Project to a folder in Finder and upload using YouTube Studio https://studio.youtube.com. It's always good to keep an uncompressed copy of a video on your computer, if you have to download your videos [from YouTube] to edit and reupload parts, they will always look worse as now those sections will have been compressed twice. Also, in the future, iMovie versions may change drastically, and reexporting your project made in an older version of iMovie might be glitchy. I hope this helps. If you don't have enough storage on your computer, try using or purchasing an external drive to save export your Movies too. However I warn you, do no save iMovie Projects to cloud storage providers other than Apple, because it may mess with the file, as the iMovie project is recognised as a folder by other OSes.

I read this whole thread, and spent a day researching. And now I just rechecked my YouTube channel and it is in 4K

in IMovie, before you had to save the video there’s a little blue options button you can hit that and then select 4K. Actually does save it to your camera roll in 4K and in HDR. You’ll even get the HDR logo when you watch it on your phone. Then I just open the YouTube app and upload it from the camera roll. It took about 12 hours of it being published on YouTube before it converted and showed the 4K but it did actually all work in 4K. I think maybe a month has gone by and all the apps and software has been updated.

but saving iMovie to photos(selecting save in 4K) and then uploading to YouTube, all in iPhone, will result in 4K video on YouTube. :)

Yeah, that's the new feature that should make sharing easier. But it's actually more complicated ... Now the only option is to save your video to photos and then publish it from the YouTube app.

I lost the youtube icon for uploading off my ipad. Then I started using iMovie to upload to youtube. After a few months the option for uploading to youtube disappeared.

I am now using this solution. It will probably work on any device you are using that has your video on it (ex: iphone, ipad).

Make sure you can use that device to go straight to youtube.

Go to youtube on your device.

Instead of looking for the camera icon (which is now gone) instead look for the "+" sign in a circle at the bottom.

Tap that and then you can now find your video and upload as you did before, adding video name and description, etc.

It has worked fine for the last 3 videos I've uploaded (which are over 1 hour long - they are our church services)

I also noticed they they upload faster than the methods I used before.

Hopefully the "+" sign won't disappear from youtube next!
