My youtube app from iMovie disappeared and I can’t upload to youtube
All of a sudden my YouTube app from my iMovie is just gone! I use this method to upload movies to YouTube all the time and now the app inside iMovie is gone. What can I do?

This feature was also removed from Final Cut Pro as well. Just export your iMovie Project to a folder in Finder and upload using YouTube Studio https://studio.youtube.com. It's always good to keep an uncompressed copy of a video on your computer, if you have to download your videos [from YouTube] to edit and reupload parts, they will always look worse as now those sections will have been compressed twice. Also, in the future, iMovie versions may change drastically, and reexporting your project made in an older version of iMovie might be glitchy. I hope this helps. If you don't have enough storage on your computer, try using or purchasing an external drive to save export your Movies too. However I warn you, do no save iMovie Projects to cloud storage providers other than Apple, because it may mess with the file, as the iMovie project is recognised as a folder by other OSes.
Go to YouTube on your Ipad or Iphone first. Hit the + sign in the circle at the bottom. This should take you to your videos and you can upload that way. Works fine for me on my Ipad. I don't know if it's 4k or not but my videos look fine.
Download to your device, then open YouTube separately and upload via the YT app instead. A little longer but that’s the way round for now. No idea why it’s been removed!
No, I first make the video with iMovie, record it in my photos then upload it to YouTube studio.
I can’t believe Apple and iMovie and YouTube have not worked this out. Do they really WANT us to use someone else’s video editing software? No solution nor explanation.
I have started to use Luma Fusion. It was a bit of a learning curve and it has a few things I actually prefer (you can change to zoom within a clip with smooth transitions - appearing as though a camera is moving in and out - vs cutting and zooming on iMoive and either having it choppy or needing to add a transition. There are probably other features but I have not figured them all out yet.
Luma Fusion will upload directly to YouTube like iMovie used to when you press the share button - it offers you that option without the need to first save your project to photos.
I still prefer the simplicity of iMovie and hope that they will get the message and resolve the break up.
Guys, if this is a feature you would like to see return, you can submit feedback to Apple engineers here https://www.apple.com/feedback/
Just called Apple, and they gave me the standard “save to your camera roll and upload it from there to your YouTube app”
how do these people not know that it won’t upload in 4K doing it that way? What the point of buying the new phone?
I've been able to upload too YouTube directly for ages and now it lets me choose the option but then, it exports a file that I have to manually upload myself via web browser. So I have to wait to export it, and the wait AGAIN to upload it!
I know this is a first world problem but I'm so disappointed in this feature being taken away!
It used to be super comfy to do everything in one step. Too bad for Apple and Youtube, I don't whose was this great idea :(
May be we can add review in AppStore and make them aware
But directly from saved not directly from iMovie ... the time it now takes plus the extra step of saving and taking up unnecessary storage space is very irritating.
I literally just did it like a week and a half ago, it’s the only way I know of to upload HDR (4K) videos from these new iPhone 12s to YouTube and actually retain HDR quality. If you save it to your camera roll, it only uploads in 1080 max... why would they change it up?
I just got off the phone with Apple support. They told me everyone is complaining about it. She said she knew nothing other than the partnership between the app developer and YouTube ended or one of the two decided not to offer that direct upload capability any more - not sure if Apple dropped YouTube or vise versa - VERY DISAPPOINTED if it’s Apple. So far the only work around I see is to save your project to your device photos then go to YouTube and upload a video and choose from your photo/video album. I hope enough complaints will change this. I use this feature 2x a week.
Yes I had edited my video and was about to upload and I found there is no option. I’m from India and not sure where to contact any leads would help. Saving videos to album and then uploading will not give highest resolution. Disappointed 😞
Same here. I just found this out when I was trying to upload from iMovie to YT, and am very aggravated now. This will be the last time I ever buy an iPhone. This is my first one mind you, and the hoops you have to jump through at times, is ridiculous. Now this! Now there is no options for 4K 60...it will be uploaded to YT at 1080p30....This was one of the main reasons I even used iMovie. Thanks Apple....
Apple? Y’all gonna say anything about this? I mean, address it or something. What’s the point of having this nice camera that can do all these nice things if the only way you can enjoy is by looking at it from your own camera roll? You can’t share anything to any social media platform and retain the same quality. I know Facebook & Twitter isn’t your fault, but iMovie, we had the opportunity to actually utilize the 4K option and share it as that quality to YouTube, now it’s gone... I hope someone makes a YouTube video mentioning this & someone finds some sort of work around. This is going to become a major issue in the coming weeks and days.
I purchased the iPhone 12 Pro Max specifically for filming landscapes. The only way I could upload my 4K footage was through the iMovie app. This is VERY disappointing. If anyone finds a way to upload 4K videos directly from the phone to YouTube, please let me know.
