My youtube app from iMovie disappeared and I can’t upload to youtube

All of a sudden my YouTube app from my iMovie is just gone! I use this method to upload movies to YouTube all the time and now the app inside iMovie is gone. What can I do?

This feature was also removed from Final Cut Pro as well. Just export your iMovie Project to a folder in Finder and upload using YouTube Studio https://studio.youtube.com. It's always good to keep an uncompressed copy of a video on your computer, if you have to download your videos [from YouTube] to edit and reupload parts, they will always look worse as now those sections will have been compressed twice. Also, in the future, iMovie versions may change drastically, and reexporting your project made in an older version of iMovie might be glitchy. I hope this helps. If you don't have enough storage on your computer, try using or purchasing an external drive to save export your Movies too. However I warn you, do no save iMovie Projects to cloud storage providers other than Apple, because it may mess with the file, as the iMovie project is recognised as a folder by other OSes.

I can’t believe Apple and iMovie and YouTube have not worked this out. Do they really WANT us to use someone else’s video editing software? No solution nor explanation.

I have started to use Luma Fusion. It was a bit of a learning curve and it has a few things I actually prefer (you can change to zoom within a clip with smooth transitions - appearing as though a camera is moving in and out - vs cutting and zooming on iMoive and either having it choppy or needing to add a transition. There are probably other features but I have not figured them all out yet.

Luma Fusion will upload directly to YouTube like iMovie used to when you press the share button - it offers you that option without the need to first save your project to photos.

I still prefer the simplicity of iMovie and hope that they will get the message and resolve the break up.

I've been able to upload too YouTube directly for ages and now it lets me choose the option but then, it exports a file that I have to manually upload myself via web browser. So I have to wait to export it, and the wait AGAIN to upload it!

I know this is a first world problem but I'm so disappointed in this feature being taken away!

It used to be super comfy to do everything in one step. Too bad for Apple and Youtube, I don't whose was this great idea :(

I just got off the phone with Apple support. They told me everyone is complaining about it. She said she knew nothing other than the partnership between the app developer and YouTube ended or one of the two decided not to offer that direct upload capability any more - not sure if Apple dropped YouTube or vise versa - VERY DISAPPOINTED if it’s Apple. So far the only work around I see is to save your project to your device photos then go to YouTube and upload a video and choose from your photo/video album. I hope enough complaints will change this. I use this feature 2x a week.

Same here. I just found this out when I was trying to upload from iMovie to YT, and am very aggravated now. This will be the last time I ever buy an iPhone. This is my first one mind you, and the hoops you have to jump through at times, is ridiculous. Now this! Now there is no options for 4K 60...it will be uploaded to YT at 1080p30....This was one of the main reasons I even used iMovie. Thanks Apple....

Apple? Y’all gonna say anything about this? I mean, address it or something. What’s the point of having this nice camera that can do all these nice things if the only way you can enjoy is by looking at it from your own camera roll? You can’t share anything to any social media platform and retain the same quality. I know Facebook & Twitter isn’t your fault, but iMovie, we had the opportunity to actually utilize the 4K option and share it as that quality to YouTube, now it’s gone... I hope someone makes a YouTube video mentioning this & someone finds some sort of work around. This is going to become a major issue in the coming weeks and days.
